Anuj confesses to Anupama that he couldn’t bear to see Little Anu crying and begging him not to leave them alone. He explains that he still can’t erase the memory of Maaya’s condition and Little Anu’s desperate pleas from his mind. He adds that he would never have forgiven himself if anything had happened to Maaya, who is still not well. That’s why he is following her every order. Despite feeling shocked, panicked and guilty for the past month, he managed to survive because of her. He apologizes for causing her pain and swears to god that he never had any intimate relationship with Maaya. He clarifies that his only motive is to protect Maaya as Little Anu’s mother, and he is afraid that Anupama’s presence in Mumbai would worsen Maaya’s mental state. Upon hearing this, Anupama interrupts him and asks him to stop talking. But Anuj persists, declaring his love for her and promising to always be by her side. The song “Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye” plays softly in the background.
Maya worries that Anuj and Anupama might have crossed paths, so she enlists Barkha’s help to locate Anuj. Barkha contacts Ankush and inquires about Anuj’s whereabouts. Ankush playfully responds that he is always with her, but when Barkha presses for his physical location, he reveals that he is at a business meeting and unable to disclose further details due to being on speakerphone. Maya understands the need for secrecy in business matters and apologizes again to Anupama. Overcome with emotions, Anupama embraces him tightly as the song “Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye” plays in the background. Their memories of their romantic past flood back as Anupama questions why Anuj didn’t confide in her or trust her enough to share his burdens. They both cry together, seeking solace in each other’s embrace.
Anuj expresses his relief that the situation is now clear. Anupama questions why he kept his suffering to himself. Anuj admits he was afraid she wouldn’t listen and would hate him. Anupama clarifies that although she may hate herself, she could never hate him, and if he continues repeating himself, she will refuse to speak to him again. Anuj stands by his decision at the time. Anupama acknowledges that circumstances often dictate decisions, and if she were in his shoes, she would have done the same thing. Now that everything has been clarified, Anuj wonders what their next steps should be. He knows they cannot stay apart forever, so is there a solution to this dilemma?
Anupama halts him and declares that he cannot abandon Maaya to come back to her. Time has paved a distinct path for each of them; one which he currently walks on, and one which she must also tread. Time has presented her with two options: she can either wait endlessly for him and become like a stone, as women are often taught to do, or she can choose to move forward. She bears no grievances towards him; after all, he has taken on the responsibility of caring for Maaya while she looks after herself. They are fortunate to have experienced love in their lives, even if they cannot be together. He has moved on and now she too wishes to do the same. Observing that it is quite late and their families may be concerned, Anupama suggests that they leave now. She thanks him for instilling bravery in her and starts walking away. However, her pallu gets snagged on his watch momentarily before she manages to free it and departs. The melodious song “Tere Liye..” continues playing in the background as Anuj heads off in a different direction.
