The Independence Day Parade New Delhi in 2005.

Apollena’s parents arrive to watch the parade, where an announcement is made that the brave Air Force pilots will soon grace the sky with the nation’s tricolour. Girdhar, Apollena’s father, mentions Madhu’s love for planes but adds that not all children are alike – Neil, for example, enjoys music. He shares his dreams for Neil’s success and imagines a future where his name will be known worldwide. Excitedly, he lifts Neil up to see the magnificent tricolour the Air Force pilots created in the sky and asks if he enjoyed it.

Madhu shared that someone enjoyed the plane ride and mentioned feeling the baby’s movements. Girdhar then informs the baby that their boss, Pallavi Madam, was also on the flight. We see Pallavi exiting the plane and discovering a letter, which brings a smile to her face. Later on, during Vandemataram’s plans, she arrives wearing a saree. Girdhar introduces Madhu to Pallavi, who was previously an airforce coordinator and is now a senior scientist at our institute. He promises to arrange a meeting between them. As Pallavi receives an award, Girdhar approaches her to wish her a Happy Independence Day.

Pallavi wishes Girdhar a happy Independence Day and shares some exciting news regarding our research project. She reveals that we have received funding from the India Space Organization SRI for developing an astronaut training facility. If successful, we will have the opportunity to send our astronauts into space. Girdhar congratulates her, and she, in turn, asks him to do the same when they achieve their goal. Pallavi expresses her passion for going to space and becoming the first Indian astronaut to fly a spacecraft.

Madhu mentioned that Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian to travel to space. Pallavi clarifies that although Chawla was of Indian origin, she went to space as an American astronaut. She expresses her desire to become the first Indian astronaut for her country and asks Madhu when she will share the news with her. Girdhar assures her it will be soon. When Pallavi questions his reason for bringing Chawla to meet her, Girdhar explains that he wants them to meet each other. This makes Pallavi happy, and she acknowledges Girdhar’s importance as a lab assistant and her right hand. This pleases Girdhar.

Neil runs away from there as Madhu tries to stop him but begins experiencing labor pains. Pallavi quickly offers to call an ambulance but learns it is unavailable due to a VIP road blockage. However, she reassures them and leads Madhu to the Apollo lab, informing Girdhar that they are prepared for such emergencies. Pallavi instructs Girdhar to step out while she assists with the delivery. Meanwhile, outside, Pallavi delivers the baby with Girdhar’s help and calls him back inside. As he enters, he sees the baby looking up at the sky with a smile. Curiously, Pallavi asks who or what the baby is gazing at with such joy.

Upon returning to their home in Chitrakoot, Girdhar and Madhu are greeted by Amma. She inquires why they took so long to visit, to which Girdhar explains that he was unable to take leave from work and also had concerns about their baby getting an injection. Amma then reminisces about how she had suggested Bahu come to Chitrakoot for her delivery, imagining that if she had been there, the child would have been a son like Neil. Renu, Girdhar’s sister, and her husband also desire to visit. Amma introduces them and their daughter, Sangeeta, to the new baby. Renu’s husband also gifts money to the infant, followed by Girdhar contributing towards Sangeeta.

Pandit is summoned for the child’s naming ceremony. Renu and her husband suggest a name, but Girdhar ultimately decides on Apollena. When his brother-in-law asks about the name, Amma mentions that it must hold some special significance. Girdhar explains that he chose Apollena because she was born in the Apollo lab and after Apollo 11, the first spacecraft to land on the Moon. Amma jokingly suggests naming her Neil instead, to which Girdhar clarifies that their daughter is named after Apollo 11, not Neil Armstrong. Renu playfully asks if he plans on sending her to space, to which Girdhar responds by saying he will ensure she becomes competent and places her in the cradle.

2011 – 6 years later

Apollo is spotted engaging in rope jumping, while Amma expresses her disappointment about their annual visit only lasting for two days. Madhu mentions that Amma saw the ticket, causing Girdhar to comment on her dramatic behaviour. He then approaches Amma and presents her with a lollypop rocket. Neil inquires if he also brought a flute for him, to which Girdhar responds by promising to bring it the next day and offering him a lollypop instead.

Apollena requests that he take it, but Neil causes it to fall. Girdhar reminds him that the Unit test is next week and he is unaware of the names of the 9 planets. Amma inquires why they are interrupting her since he only came to see Dadi for 2 days, and they started up again. Neil attempts to recite the names but struggles to remember them all. Girdhar reprimands him. Apollena promptly lists off all 9 planet names. He questions how she knows, and she explains that she had overheard him teaching Neil earlier. Amma then scolds Apollena, but Girdhar acknowledges that she gave the correct answer.

Amma implores him to reply and suggests that he spend a few days with her, but he seems indifferent to her feelings. Girdhar embraces her and expresses his desire for her to accompany him, but she appears uninterested. She remarks that she will take the Arthi from home. Amma subtly criticizes Madhu for leaving her mother-in-law and going with her husband. Girdhar admires Amma’s strong-willed nature and mentions Pallavi’s current project. Amma becomes displeased with Pallavi and orders Girdhar to quit his job. He justifies himself by stating that he works for their children’s future.

After changing into the Astronaut’s attire, Girdhar strolls around the Apollo Institute. Apollena compliments him on his appearance. Pallavi expresses her gratitude for his demonstration of the space suit. Girdhar shares that it is a remarkable sensation, as he feels he has contributed to his nation somehow. Appu urges Neil to look, but Neil brushes it off, claiming he needs more time. Neil later jokes that Pallavi is the one who does all the work and their father is merely her servant. Pallavi quickly clarifies that their father is not a servant. Madhu intervenes and requests them to stop bickering.

Pallavi instructs her Assistants as Vijayan captures images from the file. She asks if he completed the task, and he responds with a yes. Turning to Girdhar, she questions his unusual fascination with the file. Together, they leave the room and are greeted by Apollena. Girdhar remarks that she is not allowed in the lab, but Pallavi interjects, stating that Apollena has every right to be there since she was born in the same place. Neil chimes in and suggests they all visit Wonderland. Madhu interrupts, mentioning their previous argument outside—Apollena chimes in, repeating what Neil had said about Pallavi’s father being her servant.

According to Pallavi, her assistant is crucial to her work. Additionally, she believes that Apollena has the potential to become both a scientist and an astronaut. Madhu questions this idea due to societal expectations for girls. However, Pallavi points out that if she can become a scientist, why can’t Apollena? Girdhar adds that with determination, Apollena could even build and fly her rocket. He playfully suggests the title “rocket girl” for her. As Apollena envisions herself in space, a smile brightens her face.

Upon arriving in Wonderland, Girdhar inquires about his ride from Neil, who points in a direction and says, “Over there.” As soon as Apollena spots the rocket, she heads towards it, but an attendant tells her she is too small to go inside. Remembering Girdhar’s warning, Apollena turns to him and expresses her disappointment. Girdhar then reminds Neil that his burden will be lifted once his ride is complete.

Neil mentions that he will have ice cream while Girdhar searches for her. Suddenly, they hear someone climbing the rocket. Hurriedly, they rush over and discover that it’s Apollena. Appu bravely scaled the rocket, but unfortunately, Girdhar fell in his attempt to follow. The wonderland staff asks him to leave as the activity is intended for children. This frightens Appu, but Girdhar encourages her and urges her to continue climbing. Despite losing her balance, Appu persists and hangs on. Girdhar motivates her by reminding her of the names of the 9 planets and encourages her to keep climbing. Eventually, Appu reaches the top and receives applause from everyone present.
