Bauji is ill when Bai calls him for pooja in Rajwar’s palace. Bauji’s wife, Savitri, is angry at her for calling him when he is ill. Bai taunts her that she had a lavish life because of servants like her in the palace. Bauji says she takes care of all the troubles in this palace, she ensures everyone here is comfortable. When the incident with Durga’s father occurred and everyone was against us, Bai’s suggestions helped us get out of it.
This is tiring for Savitri, she entered this palace to bring water and has never left, she’s been in here for years. Bai says I have something that made me stay here. Savitri says you are talking like you did magic on palace people. I gave love to all the children in this palace, and I did everything I could to make them happy.
Bauji’s children arrive to express their gratitude towards Bai. One son acknowledges her kindness and another expresses their indebtedness. They inquire why she won’t be joining them for the festival, to which Bauji clarifies that the entire family will be present and insists she doesn’t refuse. However, Bai declines, stating her age as a reason. A daughter-in-law suggests she could still spend time with the family, but Savitri intervenes and scolds her for speaking out of turn. She reminds them that only married women can participate in the pooja and asks who Bai will fast for. She asserts that despite Bai’s attempts to claim ownership over the house and children, they are still her own. Bauji then asks about the whereabouts of the kids.
When Durga falls down while playing, Anurag cleans up her wound. Bai informs the family that Anurag is of this family’s blood but Durga is from the village. We will inform her of the status difference when the time comes. She turns around and thinks she will use Durga to reduce this difference, knowing the importance of status and will make sure she gets it.
Durga is in the village, and a woman tells her to apply an ointment to her feet before dancing. Durga dances at the festival. The palace begins its procession for the festival. The family sits in the car and greets the villagers. Anurag’s mother is searching for Durga and Anurag. Indira says you should keep them separate as Durga is of low class. Durga was so small when she came to us that we would educate her and make her independent.
At the festival, Anurag plays the flute as Durga dances around him. All clap for them. The Rajwar family arrives at the mandir and performs pooja together. When some goons arrive, Anurag and Durga are playing with villagers. Anurag is told to complain about them to his father by a woman. Anurag is taunted by the goon for playing with servants such as Durga, who he says is not a servant, but a friend. He threatens the villagers and takes her earnings.
