As Madhav arrives, Bai inquires about his whereabouts. He replies, “I was taking care of my business.” Bai then requests him to finish up and head to the city. Savitri questions why she suddenly cares about him. Bai responds that it is her responsibility to consider the palace’s future, including Madhav’s share in it along with his two brothers. This takes Savitri aback, and she asks for clarification.
Bai explains that Madhav has been excluded from family affairs, with Vikram and Anand taking charge. It’s unclear why he has no say, but Savitri warns against getting involved. Aarti inquires about the situation, to which Savitri dismissively replies it’s nothing. Bai chuckles, adding that some things are best left unsaid. Madhav then asks what Bai is trying to convey.
Bai explains her reason for always requesting to be called Mai instead of Bai, reminding Madhav that she is his biological mother while Savitri is his adopted mother. Anurag interjects and urges them to stop their argument. Eventually, Bai concedes and instructs Aarti to prepare dinner for Durga, who was once her daughter. Savitri dismisses Bai’s words as nonsense and tells Aarti to ignore her. However, Bai persists and reveals that she has been holding onto many stories but can no longer contain her frustration. She then orders Madhav to leave the village and join his brothers in the city. Despite Madhav’s insistence on staying for business reasons, Bai declares it as an order from her, and Savitri watches silently.
Durga is in the process of preparing herself. Rajesh reminds her to do so promptly. Meera urges Durga to reveal the truth to Anurag. Durga objects, stating that she cannot jeopardize him. Suddenly, there is a knock at the door, and Bua impatiently instructs Durga to hurry. Meera interjects, explaining that Durga is still getting ready, and asks Bua to wait. She then addresses Durga, pointing out that she sacrificed her happiness by marrying Rajesh to protect Anurag but should not ruin her life with him.
Durga explains that she was previously married before tying the knot with Rajesh. They went through the traditional customs of exchanging garlands and officially becoming a couple, so she cannot allow Rajesh to have any physical contact with her as he is now a separate man. Meera voices concerns that Rajesh may never let Durga go, but Durga remains determined to stand up for herself. However, Meera reveals that Anurag is unaware of this ongoing situation. Durga declares her intention to leave and start anew elsewhere, but Meera warns that Rajesh may not allow her to do so freely.
Durga admits that she is unsure but remains firm in her decision never to let Rajesh touch her again. Meera then advises her to be honest with Anurag. However, Durga declines, stating that she cannot do so. She acknowledges that perhaps their relationship was not meant to be, but her love for him will always remain. Meera becomes emotional, expresses her longing for a love like Durga’s, and sympathizes with her loss. She ultimately encourages Durga to do what she believes is best.
Durga’s smile widens as she recalls how Anurag cared for everything for her. “He would write me letters and always made me so happy,” she says. Feeling the maternal bond between them, Meera pulls Durga into a warm embrace and tells her, “You are like my own daughter. I can only pray for your well-being.” Durga reminds Meera to take care of herself and eat on time. “I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you before,” Meera apologizes. Durga responds equally apologetically, “I am sorry too.”
As Durga emerges from her room, Rajesh questions the reason for her extensive preparation. She acknowledges his suspicion and adds that she, too, wonders why she put in so much effort. Rajesh also reminds her to prepare herself as gifts may be involved. He shoots her a disapproving look before calling Mohan to fetch presents for Durga’s family.
