The debut episode of Jamai No. 1 opens with Neel emerging from a pond, only to be interrupted by his ringing phone. On the other end, his friend inquires about his location. Neel responds that he is currently conducting his morning devotion to Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, everyone at the wedding site is busy with final arrangements. The priest at the mandap asks for the bride to be summoned. Her mother then updates him that they are awaiting the arrival of Kanchan Motwani. However, Kanchan finds herself stuck in traffic, confined inside her vehicle.
As a beggar appears at her window, pleading for money, she responds by spraying him with something and sending him on his way. Later, while in the car with her mother, Kanchan’s mother brings up the topic of marriage for Riddhi. In response, Kanchan confidently states that Riddhi will only wed someone genuinely exceptional.
After reaching the wedding location, Neel goes to the watchman for help with parking. Later, he is spotted entering Riya’s room, where she prepares for her big day. Meanwhile, in a different area of town, workers are demonstrating against Riddhi. As the situation intensifies, Riddhi leaves her workplace to address the protesters. Although Vicky offers to handle the growing number of protestors, he hesitates upon seeing their size. However, Riddhi stands firm in her belief and refuses to be swayed by opposition.
Despite her driver’s warnings, Riddhi is determined to drive herself. Vicky hesitantly accompanies her as she speeds towards the workers, causing them to scatter. At the wedding, there are doubts about whether or not Riddhi will show up. However, Kanchan assures everyone she will be there since her mother extended a personal invitation. While on the road, Riddhi shares with Vicky her belief that marriage is an oppressive system where women are often treated as domestic servants.
While Neil is busy advising Riya, he stresses the significance of marriage as a lifelong commitment and a journey that spans seven lifetimes. He places great emphasis on the responsibility required to make a marriage work. Riya, however, appears doubtful and believes that her situation is beyond repair. At the mandap, Kanchan’s suspicions arise towards the veiled bride. She persists in unveiling the bride, only to discover that Neil is disguised in bridal attire. The crowd is shocked as they demand to know where Riya is. However, Neel confidently brings attention to laws against forced marriages and reveals that Riya is safe and has been taken to where she truly belongs.
In a dramatic turn of events, it is revealed that Riya has feelings for someone else. She flees from the mandap while Neel jumps in to protect her from an arranged marriage. Kanchan challenges Neel’s belief that love alone is enough for a successful marriage, insisting that financial stability is also crucial. Unbeknownst to her, Riddhi overhears Neel passionately defending the importance of love and commitment in marriage. Later on, their paths cross unexpectedly, and they share a fleeting moment in which their eyes meet. Neel then takes the car keys from Riddhi, explaining that he needs to use the vehicle to go after Riya and ensure her safety.
