Vaani destroys the Shagun items. Chithra tells her she isn’t treating the shagun with respect. She gets a lash from Sulekha. According to Vaani, Sulekha needs to learn how to communicate with her. Vaani’s father chastises her for not showing respect to her elders. Sulekha gripes that she cannot let her wear such clothing in her home. It isn’t part of her culture.
According to Vaani, she takes pride in her work and refuses to quit for anyone. “Sulekha has old thoughts,” she adds. For his sake, Raghav begs her to quit. He needs to explain it to his grandmother, she says.
According to Chithra, a servant is unaware of how to treat the in-laws with dignity. How would Vaani treat them with respect, then? Mishri asserts that she is capable of caring for herself. Raghav makes an effort to stop her. She uses a vermillion to draw a line. She requests that he cease crossing it. He must not follow her.
