Jagriti 1st January 2025 Written Update begins with Gita defending Jagriti’s right to choose her essay topic. She tells the audience that participants were allowed to speak freely, and since no one else has objections, Jagriti should not be forced to change her topic. The other judges agree. Jagriti proudly introduces herself as a Chitta and says she is honored to represent her community.

Meanwhile, in the basti, Champa asks Ballu if he’s seen Kachori. Ballu, instead, is watching Harish and becomes suspicious of something he’s carrying. Kachori tells Harish to guard the item safely and let her know when he’s stepping out. Champa scolds her and pulls her away. Ballu questions Harish and sends Durjan to interrogate him. Harish retorts that he will only answer to Dadda. A scuffle breaks out but is interrupted when Durjan reminds them to focus on organizing the Chitta Annual Day.

On stage, Jagriti passionately delivers her essay, highlighting the pride of the Chitta community. She explains how they have always lived in harmony with land, nature, and animals, never claiming ownership or showing greed. Jagriti proudly declares that while society sees them as slaves, Chittas have fought for India’s freedom and earned their dignity. Akash claps first, followed by the entire crowd. Even Kalikant is reluctantly forced to applaud.

Backstage, Kachori quietly hands a blue envelope back to Harish, saying she picked it up while he was fighting with Ballu. Harish thanks her sincerely.

The host of the event announces that ten students have been selected for scholarships, but before that, the winner of the essay competition will be revealed. He names Sapna Rajvanshi as the winner. Jagriti claps enthusiastically, and Kalikant and Kalindi are pleased.

However, the host pauses and announces a second winner—Jagriti Chitta. The crowd applauds, and Gita beams with pride. But Sapna is furious. When asked to share the prize, Sapna refuses, saying she cannot stand on the same stage with a Chitta. She storms off, and Gita calls Jeetu to take her home.

Kalindi mocks Gita, noting that even her daughter couldn’t accept equality with a Chitta. Gita responds that her daughter reflects societal bias and says that this moment is a powerful opportunity to set a new example. She proposes that Sarkar, whom the Chittas consider their provider, should present the award to Jagriti. Inspector Singh notes silently that Sarkar will now have to decide.

Kalikant is about to object, but the Minister steps in, appreciating Gita’s idea and announcing that Sarkar should present the award. Jagriti is invited to the stage. She humbly bows to touch the first step of the stage before proceeding. However, as she walks, memories of Kalikant’s cruelty toward her basti flash through her mind.

Jagriti stops and announces that she doesn’t wish to accept the prize there. The Minister is surprised and asks what she means. Jagriti explains that the Chittas’ Annual Day is a significant event for their community, and she requests that the award be presented there instead. Kalikant resists, but the Minister insists it would help bridge the gap with the community. Kalikant finally agrees.

He then sees Ballu signaling him. Ballu informs him that Harish brought the blue file to the basti and skipped Jagriti’s competition. Kalikant realizes that this is all a trap to expose him and orders Ballu to retrieve the proof. He warns Kalindi that he won’t be the hunted but the hunter—proclaiming himself the lion among lions.

Back at the event, Jagriti is surrounded by supporters and photographers. Gita is full of praise, calling Jagriti the “shining star of Mokshgarh.” Jagriti hugs her and says it was only possible because of Gita’s guidance and encouragement to change her destiny. She now feels hopeful and proud.

Just then, a couple taunts Gita for corrupting the youth. Gita boldly invites them to visit the Chitta basti to learn the difference between entertainment and lived pain. She comforts Jagriti and tells her to ignore such negativity. Jagriti asks why Gita wanted Sarkar to present the award at the basti. Gita simply replies, “You’ll soon find out why I did that.”

Precap:

Durjan fears something terrible is coming. Kalikant’s men set fire to the Chitta basti. Gita and Jagriti watch with teary eyes.
