Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai December 8 Written Update opens with Armaan still seething with anger after physically assaulting Abhir earlier. He tries to justify his actions by claiming he was only protecting Kiara. Abhira strongly reprimands him, making it clear that violence can never be the solution. She firmly tells Armaan that both Kiara and Abhir are adults and whatever happened between them was mutual. Abhira reminds him that protectiveness does not mean punishment. Hurt and disappointed, she leaves to visit Abhir at the hospital.
Back at the Poddar house, the family gathers to discuss the growing crisis. Emotions run high as most members initially lean towards abortion, believing it is the safest way to avoid scandal and further complications. Amid the heated discussion, Krish surprises everyone by speaking up. Though he admits he is upset with Kiara, he insists that the unborn child is innocent. He calls the baby God’s greatest blessing and urges the family not to take impulsive decisions driven by fear and anger.
The next morning, Abhir arrives at the Poddar residence, hoping to speak with Kiara. His presence immediately triggers Armaan’s anger once again. Just as Armaan is about to intervene, Abhira steps forward and stops him. She sternly reminds Armaan that Kiara and Abhir deserve the chance to speak privately, as it concerns their relationship, their future, and their decision alone.
In an emotional moment, Abhir takes out a guitar string shaped into a ring and proposes to Kiara. He expresses that his feelings are rooted in love and not obligation. However, Kiara, overwhelmed with fear and confusion, questions his intentions. She asks whether he would still be proposing if she were not pregnant. Unable to trust the situation, Kiara rejects his proposal.
Before Kiara realises it, the entire Poddar family witnesses this emotional exchange from a distance. Feeling exposed and overwhelmed by their presence, Kiara runs inside the house. Abhir tries to follow her, but Armaan blocks his path and declares that Kiara’s refusal is final. Once again, Armaan loses control and attempts to lash out physically. Abhira immediately steps between them and warns Armaan that his anger will only worsen the situation and push everyone further apart.
Later, when the family regroups, tensions rise once again. Kaveri turns her anger toward Abhira, accusing her of knowing about Kiara and Abhir’s relationship earlier and hiding the truth from the family. The accusations grow intense until Kiara steps forward to defend Abhira. She clearly states that no one knew about their relationship and that blaming Abhira is completely unfair.
As the elders continue pushing Kiara toward marriage, presenting it as the only acceptable solution, Abhira once again becomes the voice of reason. She urges everyone to stop forcing decisions on Kiara and allow her the time and space she needs to think clearly about her life and her child.
