Anupam Kher was born on 7th March, 1955 in Shimla, India. His father was a Clerk in the Forest Department and his mother was a housewife. Kher did his schooling from D.A.V. School in Shimla and later pursued his graduation in Commerce from the Simla College. After that he joined the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi from where he completed his diploma course in Acting.
Kher got married to actress Kirron Kher in 1985 and the couple have a son named Sikander Kher who is also an actor.
