Manri greets Naren and presents him with a Shugun, as it is his first visit to their home. Naren questions the purpose of the gift, prompting Ishwar to explain that it is customary to leave with something. However, Naren believes he is not leaving empty-handed as he has received blessings from the elders and made lovely memories. He expresses concern about driving back to his hotel late at night, mainly since he just ate and the road conditions are not ideal. Ishwar suggests that he stays at their house for a few hours instead. Though hesitant, Nandini assures him that they may have a small house, but they have big hearts. With everyone’s insistence, Naren agrees and is led inside by them, causing Nandini to smile.
At night, Ishwar reminds Naren to rest as he leaves early in the morning. Naren then asks if he can pose a question and proceeds to share his observations about Nandini’s strong values but quick temper when discussing dowry. He notices Ishwar becoming tense and offers him a chair, prompting Ishwar to explain that her anger and frustration stem from a personal experience with dowry. He reveals that her friend Joyti had committed suicide due to this very issue, although they kept it hidden until her final rites.
While conversing with Manri, Nandini stumbled upon the hidden truth that her mother had committed suicide by jumping into a well. Unaware of Nandini’s presence, Ishwar informed Manohar (Nandini’s father) that they had continuously sent him whatever little assistance they could. However, they could not provide more due to their limited financial resources. Manohar had thrown Nandini’s pregnant mother, Surbhi, out of his house when Nandini was two years old. Upon coming here, it was discovered that Surbhi was expecting again, and she stayed for some time. Ishwar also mentioned that they attempted to contact Manohar, but he never answered their calls. Surbhi revealed that Manohar would only accept her back if she gave birth to a boy, which Manri assured her would happen. Worried about possibly having another girl, Surbhi questioned Manri, who reassured her again.
Ishwar states that after Mitesh’s birth, they could finally breathe a sigh of relief. However, when they attempted to share the good news with Manohar, they discovered that he was getting married for the second time. Naren points out that this is illegal, to which Ishwar responds that those who have no fear of God will do such things. Ishwar reveals that he even went to the wedding ceremony but was met with physical violence and false accusations towards Surbhi. He explains that between constant arguments and two children, his sister could not handle the pressure, resulting in their worst fears coming true.
Ishwar recounts the events of the previous night when Surbhi ran off after Manri warned him that something terrible might happen. He followed his sister as she ran towards a well and tragically jumped in. Later, Naren and Ishwar hear Nandini crying and see her run out of the house. Naren assures them he knows where she will go and follows her, while Ishwar remains worried. They find Nandini sitting by the well with her head resting on it. Despite Naren’s presence, she continues to cry as she expresses her frustration over dowry-related issues. She lost her mother and a close friend who meant more to her than her sister, causing her to feel angry towards those who selfishly and greedily destroy others’ lives for their gain.
As Naren wipes away her tears, he reassures Nandini that his mother’s sacrifice will not be in vain. He promises they will marry without a dowry and fight against the practice together. As Nandini becomes emotional, she rests her head on his while he does the same. The following day, as the family gathers at the breakfast table, Chanchal helps Anousya Baa sit down while one of the women places necessary food items. The men of the house and the brothers also join them at the table as the women bring out the food.
Nandini brings the food, and Manri even asks her to sit, but she looks at Naren when Mitesh says to sit with him as well. Naren says he is very comfortable sitting on the chair, even though they say Naren won’t normally eat on the floor. Hemraj Ratansi is the center of the family’s attention at breakfast, and no one eats anything before he arrives.
After seeing the wooden structure before him, Naren picks it up, and Nandini tells him it provides knee support. Ishwar shows Naren how to use it, and Naren follows the instructions. Nandini places Naren’s plate before him after Manri asks her to serve him the food first.
As Hemraj approaches, he greets Baa, and they begin preparing the food. He is served first while Dhawal waits. Jigar and Ronaq discuss Dhawal’s strained relationship with Hetal. Jigar mentions how his life was ruined when he was forced into a marriage with Roupa without any say, causing him to urge Dhawal to prioritize himself. When Hemraj asks if there is an issue, Jigar responds that there couldn’t possibly be one.
Before Naren can tell Manri they need the sweet, Nandini intervenes and begins serving Naren instead. As he tells her it’s enough, Heta Baa chimes in to say that Nandini is their favorite and asks who will serve her if she leaves. Nandini responds that Mehul’s future wife will take care of him, to which Mehul eagerly admits he wants to marry someone from America. Confused, Naren questions this decision, and Mehul asserts he will leave there. Then, Nandini clarifies that Mehul himself is planning to depart but assures everyone she will continue taking care of Baa. This prompts Naren to ask how she will handle the responsibilities of two households after she gets married, catching the group’s attention. He quickly clarified that he meant how she would manage her duties in both houses.
Nandini says that the wife of Mitesh would take care of her. Nandini adds that the rituals are not just meant for them both but for the entire family. When Dhawal mentions there is a relative of Naren named Sujan, Hemraj informs everyone that Hemraj has made a profitable deal with them, everyone is stunned, Hemraj insists they are a respectable family and that the meeting is just an excuse while the relationship has been fixed, Chanchal becomes worried.
